Russell Dickerson is no stranger to the stage, but it’s been a while since he’s played to a crow exclusively there to see him. After spending the spring opening for Thomas Rhett, Russell will join his friends in Florida Georgia Line on the Smooth Tour later this summer. But before he jumps back into the big leagues, Russell got in touch with his roots at the Mercury Lounge in New York City – a venue much like ones he played last year, but would serve as the setting for his first ever sold out show in the Big Apple. For the 45 minute set, Russell teased new tracks from his upcoming album (due out this September) and played some fan favorites, such as “Blue Tacoma” and “Billions”. Ending the night with the song that changed his life, “Yours”, there wasn’t a single person in the crowd not singing along.
