Justin Timberlake described the second installment of The 20/20 Experience as “slutty,” but sexy is a better word. The record is everything a pop record could be, filled with dance beats and catchy lyrics. The President of Pop has officially returned. – Catherine Powell

lorde-pure-heroine-410Pure Heroine – Lorde
16-year-old Lorde exploded onto the pop music scene this year with her electric attitude leaving anticipation high for her debut album Pure Heroine out this week. She certainly delivers the spunky hard hitting lyrics and electro pop beats we were waiting for, while also showing her soft side. You’ve got your dance hits with “Royals” and “Tennis Court.” But you’ve also got your sing along hits like “Team” and “Buzzcut Season.” Check out “Ribs,” a song reminiscent of everything we love about Imogene Heap and Ellie Goulding. There’s a nice standard deviation from the sound of “Royals,” her debut single, proving that Lorde will be more than a one-dimensional one hit wonder. – Tanya Traner

The upbeat and energetic Reanimated gives listeners the freedom to sing, dance, rap, or just nod along. The remixed album spins Family Force 5 songs, introduces a few new ones, but satisfies every mood the DJ could be trying to create. Whether it’s a psychedelic intro leading to a dramatic beat drop or a piano-vocal ballad, Reanimated has something for every stage of the party. – Tara DeVincenzo

The sisters’ HAIM have been loaded into the proverbial cannon and have exploded on to the radars of music blogs everywhere, releasing a number of EPs along with a widely talked about performance at Bonnaroo, all leading up to their debut full-length album, Days Are Gone. The girls strain girl power attitude through a pure electro-glam swagger that ranges from jumpy to slow-churning. There’s no girl group gimmick here; in fact, if they heard that, they’d probably kick your ass and not tell anyone. – Mike Madden
