As their tour comes to a close, Marti Sarbit of Imaginary Cities wraps up his tour diary with Naked. Check out what Marti has to say about what has happened in the last few days and what is left to come.
MS: It’s the last week of tour and I’m sitting in the Divan Orange — a nice and intimate venue in Montreal, Quebec. We just finished sound check and judging by how well it went I’m feeling like it’s going to be a fun show tonight. It’s crazy to think we’ve pretty much been on tour for 8 weeks with a short break at home in the middle. This half seems to be going by so much faster than the last and I assume this next week will zoom by even more so.
Last weekend we were in Guelph, Ontario for the Hillside music festival. For anyone who hasn’t been there, it’s a pretty small festival that seems to bring awesome acts from all over. I got to catch The Jezebels (a great band from Australia) and Zeus (another great band to come out of Toronto). Both kicked ass. Our set was sandwiched between them on the same stage. I think I can speak for all of us when I say that was a definite highlight of the tour. I couldn’t believe how many people were there to see us and it was really cool to see ’em all dancing and singing along to our songs.
Tomorrow we head back to the U.S. to play Boston, then New York, then — the ultimate way to finish off the tour — Lollapalooza in Chicago. I’ve been looking forward to playing Lollapalooza since I found out we’d been accepted into it. Can’t wait to celebrate the end of tour by enjoying the festival and all the sweet acts they’ve got this year. After that we drive for 14 hours until we reach our beds in Winnipeg and get to relax for a month before heading back into the studio to record our next album. I’m so excited for everything that’s to come!
