The comeback of warm weather and cherry blossoms signal the most important time of the year for our fellow music lovers: festival season! With the South By Southwest festival coming to a close, we figured we’d give y’all a run down of the much-anticipated music festivals this season, starting with the “OMG” of OMG’s, Coachella.
Kicking off on the 11th of April this year, the sold out 2014 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Annual Festival is one of the music industry’s much-anticipated events. Music lovers from all over the world take off and head to Indigo, Califiornia to spend a weekend or two with nature and great live performers. Although notorious for opening its arms to the flower-crown-wearing, ill-informed hipster (see Jimmy Kimmel’s Coachella edition of Lie Witness News), Coachella actually takes the cake for being one of the biggest, most successful, and most profitable music festivals in the world.
Set to reunite this summer, rap duo Outkast happen to be headlining Day 1 and 4 of Coachella. With over 150 other artists being showcased this year, fans must make it a point to plan out their weekends and bask in this musical haven as much as they can. Notable acts such as Arcade Fire, Lorde, Queens of the Stone Age, The 1975, and Muse are also set to grace the different stages with their presence – an incredible lineup every music lover dreams of being amidst.
Up and coming indie acts such as The Preatures, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Internet, and Dum Dum Girls are a few to definitely keep an eye out for!
Enjoy the music, enjoy the lights, sleep in tents, and what the heck – go buy yourself a flower crown! They’re pretty.
