There was a wave of curiosity when Ben Haggerty – more commonly known as Macklemore – announced his new album Gemini would not feature his consistent collaborator, Ryan Lewis. But any doubters were quickly shut down when the Grammy-winning rapper released the record in September. With features on nearly every song, Macklemore was able to show his love of collaboration in a different way. And while Kesha and Lil Yachty lend their talents to the record, the live show is a completely different experience. When Macklemore stepped on stage for his sold out performance at Terminal 5 on Friday night it was made very clear that he can carry his own weight. The high-energy show – which featured astounding visuals and quite a few costume changes – was an experience worthy of your hard-earned money, and in keeping true to his first hit, a t-shirt to commemorate your evening won’t cost you $50.
