Music makes the world spin round. And that’s exactly what I’m going be writing about today. The gravitational pull and the logistics to what makes the world spin on its axis. Totally kidding (but I scared you for a second, right?!) This week’s topic is the love of music. It makes us learn new things about ourselves, is easy to relate to and just fun to listen to. Ever since I was 4 or 5, I’ve always loved The Beatles (who doesn’t? They’re the best.) My dad has an original Abbey Road album and always blasts it on his record player. I think it has the coolest sound ever. As a matter of fact, I’m listening to “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer” at this very moment.

Old music rocks. It makes me sad that there are very few artists out right now who can capture the beauty of real music. Music with no auto tune or anything, all raw and true. And yes, I still do listen to everything from Billboard’s Top 100 (and I sing along to each and every one!) and modern day music, but it is kind of depressing how music has changed from an artist having real talent to kind of any random person picking up a microphone and making a hit…just a thought.

Lana Del Rey is my favorite human being ever. Her music is the best. And if you haven’t heard it before, I highly recommend you click over to You Tube and blast the beautiful sound of Miss Lana Del Rey. I remember l being in my hotel room in Chicago on a day off from filming Shameless and I was on Twitter. Tons of people were tweeting about Lana Del Rey, so I searched her up on iTunes and fell in love with her music. This Is What Makes Us Girls is the first I heard of her back then. The song is just utterly amazing, I’m begging of you to download it at this very moment. Ugh all of her music is perfect! “Young and Beautiful” is so good too and it’s in the Great Gatsby’s sound track.

I’m also really obsessed with Imagine Dragons. At sleep away camp, I joined a band with my friends (I played the bass) and we did “Radioactive”, which was so fun.

I’m a total directioner too and I love One Direction, although I can’t pick a favorite of their songs because I literally love all of their music. I have a quite a random and wide spread music choice, now that I think about it, ranging from “Don’t Rain On My Parade” by Barbara Streisand (I LOVE the Glee cover of it too!) to Started From The Bottom by Drake (guilty pleasure) and everything in between.

Music just rocks and I love that everyone in the entire world knows it. I wish I were a good singer so I could relate to it and love it even more, but for now, I’ll stick to learning the drums and playing a few songs on the bass. I’m also learning acoustic guitar, which is fun. But basically my idea behind today’s post, is that music helps everyone in some way, giving them someone or something to relate to or motivation to work out at the gym. Music has helped me through a lot and given me so much inspiration in my acting.

So music, I can’t thank you enough. Thanks for everything, I love you. What’s your favorite song at the moment?
